| Title: Book Of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 Site: BlairWitch.com Starring: Synopsis: Sequel to the original scarefest that revolves around a group of fans who go to the town of the original to find out more about the legend. Something strange happens to the party and weird things begin to happen. Review: Do not compare it to the original or you're going to be greatly disappointed. Book of Shadows: Blair Witch is one of the ever so rare psychological thrillers/horror movies that works. Personally I didn't find it to be all that scary, though the person watching the DVD with me was freaking out. That point aside, the story in the movie is very solid basing itself on the real life events that transpired after the first film as people besieged the little town it was shot in. It also plays up the fact the first movie wasn't real and how people believed it. The movie is made even better by the fact the director is the well known for his work on the HBO documentaries concerning the Vampire killings from a few years ago where the boy killed his parents and it shows as the story reflects a real world tone. The movie also has hidden images through out. Some people have complained about the pace of the movie, which is somewhat slow, however it works well with the story being told. The ending is also great and leaves you wanting to rewatch the movie to see what you missed. Overall, the movie is actually better in some respects than the original. Rating: 8/10 DVD Review: Great DVD!! The transfer is fantastic and the extras are spectacular. In fact, in a great innovation, one side of the disk is the dvd and the other is a CD you can play in your stereo that contains 3 tracks from the soundtrack, the score, and a live track for the Blair Witch webcast. You can also look at The Secret of Esrever which adds a little to the film. There's also commentary by the director and composer, live performance by Godhead, Production notes, and DVD Rom Features. This is how a DVD should be done. Rating: 9/10 More Like This: Blair Witch, Curse of the Blair Witch, Scream |
