Title: Almost Famous

Site: n/a

Starring: Kate Hudson, Patrick Fugit,  Jason Lee, Frances McDormand

Synopsis: Cameron Crowe retells the story of his youth through the eyes of fictional character William Miller as a young man whom Rolling Stones hires to write an article about the band Stillwater.  Unfortunately, the young writer breaks the first rule of being a writer and befriends the band and become entwined within the world of rock n' roll.

Review: This movie is absolutely amazing and flawless.  Cameron Crowe (director and writer) based the story on events in his own life, and his love for the story comes through brilliantly.  This may be one of the best movies I've ever had the chance to see.  The performances are fantastic and you often forget the characters are simply creations and not real people in a documentary.  Frances Mcdormand also brings in a wonderful performance that anyone with an over protective mother can relate to.  This movie will truely open your eyes to the world of rock n' roll and cause you to fall in love with 70's rock more than ever.  Rent or buy this movie as soon as possible because it more than lives up to the hype.

Rating: 10/10

DVD:

Features:  Fever Dog music video, Rolling Stone articles by Cameron Crowe, Trailer, Making of featurette

Review:  This dvd is great, the transfer is beautiful and vibrant, the sound is top notch, and everything is almost perfect.  Regularly these extras would be great, unfortunately, the dvd was originally suppose to include a hell of a lot more, including a director's cut with 30 minutes of extra footage.   Dreamworks decided to rush the dvd to market and plan a "Special Edition" sometime next year with all sorts of features.  However, this is the now and the extras that are here are fantastic and this disc is worth buying/renting no matter what.!

Rating: 8/10 (the knowledge of another dvd version brings this one down a notch_

(remember, this is for the DVD content not the movie!!)
