Betty Blue was found last week after a three-week search. The female version of the Aggie mascot, Big Blue, was taken from Romney Stadium after football game against BYU Oct. 4, 2003.
Betty was found as two young men attempted to hang her from a pedestrian overpass near the BYU campus. The young men fled the scene and were not apprehended by local police.
The $3,000 Betty Blue costume was undamaged, but the broomstick that functioned as a backbone for the immobile mascot was broken.
No sooner had Betty come home, than Big Blue decided to move on to other things. He said though he is glad to have his girlfriend and cheer partner back, he has other ideas that he wants to try, so he has retired Betty Blue. Big Blue said Aggie fans should keep a sharp eye out for an Austin Powers like Mini-blue.
