We went over the waterfall in the boat and survived!

or...
I shook my head in disbelief as I focused in on the waterfall up ahead. With only 100 yards to find safety, I quickly began to paddle to the shore. After only a few strokes, I knew the current was too strong and the boat continued on its path straight for the waterfall.

The river rapids suddenly began raging now with rapids as high as 4 feet tall. The spray from the rapids had every inch of me soaked to the bone. Fear from seeing the waterfall and the coldness of the river water made my entire body tremble like chattering teeth in the middle of winter.

Suddenly with only 50 yards remaining, my eyes focused on a low hanging limb that was directly in front of me but coming quickly. My only hope for rescue depended on my own ability to cling tightly to this upcoming branch. With this reassurance of hope, I began to rise up on my knees expecting to simply throw myself upon this stout limb. As soon as I started to throw myself forward, the boat went over a nasty rapid that caused it to tip itself forward. My body jerked violently. Ouch, I bellowed softly in the bottom of the boat as my head banged against the limb. My final chance of rescue and my last bit of hope vanished as a knot formed on my forehead.

Finally, I now realized I had no way out. I was only 20 feet away from the waterfall. Help Me! Please, help me! I pleaded to the people along the shore. As I turned back to face the waterfall, my mind began to drift. Now, only 10 feet away. Bracing myself against the boat for safety, my thoughts turned to my parents and if I would ever see them again. Now I was only 5 feet away and there was4 feet away.only one thing.2 feet away.left for me to do.1 foot away. Aaaahhhh! I screamed as I went over the falls.

With sheer amazement, I quickly found myself swimming upwards in the deep pool of cold water for my first breath of air. With the current carrying me downstream, I turned to see the waterfall. Relief overtook my body as I noticed it was 25 feet high with a deep pool at the bottom. After several minutes, the raging river turned back into a slow moving body of water that allowed me to swim to shore.
