Magic-of-Three
This technique works well when students are able to do the following:

HINT 1 - No discovery / reaction
HINT 2 - No discovery / bigger reaction
HINT 3 - DISCOVERY
Notice in the following paragraph, the three hints that were mentioned before discovery took place. I'll highlight each hint in red, each reaction in yellow, and each time there was no discovery in blue.
I walked through the deep jungle, peering into the underbrush. A rustling sound off to the side stopped me in my tracks. I turned to listen harder, but all was quiet. Perhaps it was only a bird or small animal nearby. I shrugged and went on. The snapping of a twig behind me sent chills up my spine. This was no bird and certainly not a small animal. I spun around, ready to face whatever was out there. But there was nothing. My heart began to race, and I moved forward, more quickly this time. I started to sweat and concentrated on moving ahead, putting one foot in front of the other. That's when I saw them - a pair of golden, glowing eyes staring at me from the underbrush. I froze as I realized that I was staring into the eyes of a huge Bengali tiger!
