| Question # 2 - What do you remember most about Halloween growing up as a child? | ||||||||||||||
| I remember when I was in grade school every child wore their costume to school. Then in the afternoon, the entire school would march six blocks through town so everyone could see us.
I remember being dressed as a scarecrow, a smurf, a hunter, and even a werewolf. In fact, my mom reminded me that she still has the smurf costume. My father would always take me trick-or-treating around town to the people we knew. Getting candy was obviously the best part of it all, but I remember one gentleman, Mr. Lochen, would always give me a quarter or two. And that was a big deal, because to this day I remember. My mother would always have to stay home because we would have a lot of people come by trick-or-treating. She would get over 200 kids, and then she would turn off the porch lights. But I remember a tradition my mother started when I was a young. Each year she would pass out the same unique treat, and Erin and I have started to carry on the same tradition my mother started so long ago. What is it? Youll have to come by our house on Halloween night to see for yourselves. - Mr. Aten |

| What I remember most about Halloween growing up is that we had to make up our own costumes. Usually we used make-up to fix our faces and used old clothes to make whatever costumes we could. We didnt have any particular character in mind, just made ourselves look like dolls or clowns. Then we would set out to go around town with our trick-or-treat bags. It would take a couple of hours going house to house, but we would come back home with our bags full of goodies. A lot of the goodies included popcorn snowballs, candy apples, homemade cookies and candy; these were my favorite.
We never had an adult escort. I guess our parents didnt have to worry because people were more trusting. And we kids usually went in groups. - Donna ( Daniels Mom) |

| I was about 6 years old. All the kids in my neighborhood went together, and I was terrified. My mom had to hold my hand and follow me everywhere. Every time I saw a scary mask, I would scream like someone was trying to kill me. Eventually my mom took me home. Even though I enjoyed the candy, I was scared to death to go get it. My mom told me, you shouldnt be so mean, then you wouldnt be so scared. When I think back now, she was right. Although at the time it wasnt funny, I laugh like crazy at myself now. HA HA HA. Happy Halloween!!

| As a child I remember going with my sister and cousins trick-or-treating. My sister would take us to the neighborhood, let us out, she would drive behind us. We didnt have to worry about the creeps getting us, or worry about the people putting bad things in the candy. It really was a great time.

| What me and Randell remember the most about Halloween when we were kids! One of the things is that we used to like to dress up for Halloween and go trick or treating all around the neighborhood we lived in and go to our relatives houses. One other thing we used to like was dressing up and going to the Halloween or Fall Festivals we used to go to at our schools when we were kids. Also, we cant forget we liked carving our pumpkins for Halloween. But the things about Halloween today is, things are not the same as they used to be when we were kids, because its not safe like it used to be and you cant hardly trust people either and that takes the fun out of it!

| The thing I like about Halloween is that you get to have fun when you go trick (trunk) or treating, and then have fun sorting and eating the candy, and I also like dressing up and scaring people.
