Mr. Atens Classroom Newsletter October, 2004
I would like to apologize for this newsletter being so late. October came up rather quickly and then with my unexpected trip back home to PA last week, I am just now finding the time to get this together.

I would also like to thank everyone for remembering my family and me last week. I was blessed to have my grandmother a part of my life for so long, and I rejoice in all of the special memories that we were able to share together.

READING COUNTS
We had 75% of the students reach their September RC goal of 30 points. There were many students that were reading right up to the last day, and I would like to encourage every student to keep reading diligently this month until they have reached their goal. I would also like to congratulate the following students for their accomplishments this past month.

Olympic Walk of Fame 70 Points
Davin
Jordan Z.
Mike
Christopher

Over-the-Top 140 Points
Alex J.

This months goal is 45 points. We still have over nine school days left. You will find your childs RC report card attached to this newsletter, so please look this over with them, and help me encourage and motivate your child to keep up with the monthly goals.
For the last several weeks, we have been taking timed multiplication tests daily. Half the class has already passed all the facts between 2 12. We will continue to take these tests until the end of the month. Please ask your child about their success.
Family Night
Family Night will be held on November 6, and there will be a letter attached to inform you of what our class will be responsible for.

I will be asking for parent volunteers to help run our Flip-A-Chip contest.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Thank you again for understanding when I had to switch conference dates. Please call and let me know if the time scheduled does not work for you. I also encourage each student to come to the conference, so please try to make arrangements for your child to come as well.
