Mr. Atens Classroom Newsletter January 2005
Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a peaceful and relaxing time over the holidays. Im very excited to finally be home again. My wife and I seemed to have traveled all over the Northeast trying to visit as many friends and family as possible.
I hope the students had time to rest up for what is to come during the next several months. Im sure you are aware, but on March 1 we will take the writing test and then in May well take the EOG tests. Well continue working diligently preparing ourselves for each test and I know well be ready.

On January 10, 12, 13, and 14, our 4th grade students will receive Basic Aid Training. Cindy Haynes, our school nurse, has worked on bringing this training to our students. They will be introduced to emergency action steps and first aid procedures. Topics include choking, fire facts, poison, substance abuse, water safety and many others. Each student will receive an activity book and each student will need to bring in $1.00 to cover the cost.
We only had 63% of the students reach their December RC goal of 75 points. Keeping up with each monthly goal will only get more intense as our workload will increase due to the state testing preparation. Please continue to help monitor your childs progress.

I would like to congratulate the following students for their accomplishments this past month.

Please help our school community support this project by sending in any donations you are able to offer. THANK YOU!
