We are closing in on the end of the first marking period and I would just like to share with every parent how much I am enjoying this year. Through the challenges that are faced with a combination, your children are working hard and I appreciate their effort.
Reading Counts
I am very pleased to announce that 95% of the class reached the 25-point goal for the month of September. I would also like to congratulate the following students for their accomplishments this past month.

Please remind your child that by October 31, they will need to have 40 points. There are already 14 out of 22 students that have over the 40 points.
Family Night
Will be held on November 1 and there will be a letter attached to inform you of what our class will be responsible for.
Listening Centers
Over the last two weeks we have started using listening centers in our class. They are being used during small group time and each small group will have the opportunity to listen to a book on tape about once a month. The students listen to a novel being read to them while they are following along from the book. These audiobooks are on the Reading Counts program and I will encourage the students to take tests on the books they listen to, but they will need to reread the book on their own after they finish listening to the tape. During this time, I will require the students to keep a reading log. Each day, they will need to keep track of the pages read. I will also require them to get a parent signature on the reading log each evening during the time the book is being read.
