Birthday Cards Page
Happy Birthday! As we age, it's important to continue to exercise our mental faculties. This page tells you how to find your birthday card from JAF, which is more exciting than Bingo and won't interfere with the Judge Judy show. The Larger Print Instructions are here just for you.
Now that you are another year older, use your additional wisdom to access your private birthday card. JAF Systems developed the JAF Birthday Card Naming Convention (JAFBCNC) © to help you remember where to find your card.
Each Birthday Card Filename consists of the following parts:
- The usual http://www.geocities.com/jeremyactionfigure/
- Your first name
- A numeric representation of your day and month of birth.
- The .htm file extension
Let's see how this works in practice. Read the following instructions to learn how to build your personal JAF Birthday Card Filename©:
- Starting at the " h ", Copy and Paste, or type, the following internet address (called a "URL,") into the Address field of your browser window.
- Add your first name to the end of the URL. For example, if your name is Bubba, you would add it as follows:
Notice how it's "Bubba" and not "BUBBA" or "bubba". Your name will have the first letter capitalized with all others in lower case--the same way you write it in your own home. Pretty neat, eh?
- Add your day and month of birth to the end of the URL, after your name. For example, if you're still named Bubba, and you were born on July 4, your URL would now appear as follows:
Notice that it's 0704, not 0407. Use the American method for writing numerical dates. Consider notifying JAF BC Tech Support if JAF doesn't know your real birthday, your date of birth has changed, you wish to appeal your date of birth, or if you haven't completed the JAF Survey.
- Add the ".htm" file type extension to the end of your URL. You will now have the complete filename for your birthday card. Bubba's URL would now be
- http://www.geocities.com/jeremyactionfigure/Bubba0704.htm
- With the complete filename entered in the Address field, press the Enter key on your keyboard. If JAF created your birthday card, it will be displayed. Happy Birthday.
-
You can practice with Bubba's URL and then, if it's your birthday, search for your own card.
- The JAF Birthday Card Naming Convention (JAFBCNC©) began in mid-April 1999.
- Recipients should copy their birthday cards if desired, because each card expires after "a while." Thanks.
- If you get confused, email JAF Birthday Card Tech Support.
