CollectingThis page will outline three types of vanda collector, and
in fact the three major groups of orchid enthusiasts. We will cover the philosophical
differences and will compare the fundamental beliefs that drive the
collecting tastes of the typical American vanda collector, the species
lovers, and those who prize novelty alone as the holy grail of orchid assembly. The first page will present the concept of Terrior
in relation to orchid growing, while the second will define and provide
multiple visual examples of modern vandas that appeal to the typical American
sensibilities. The third page will
outline the goal of the species lover, and will provide pictures of
exceptional specimens, while the final page of this section will address the
idea of Tempis Fugit. This
page will outline the novelties and quiet absurdities prized for the sake of
an alternative orchid ideal. GrowingThe growing pages will outline briefly the main tenents of
vanda culture, and will provide an overview of the necessities needed to
bloom great plants. However, the main
goal of the growing section is to discuss and disperse advanced tips for the
seasoned vanda hobbyist and grower.
The final page will address some typical growing problems like
disease, pests, and die-back and will present suggested solutions. BreedingReady to step up your collection, win that orchid
competition, or shape the future of the American ideal in vandas? This section will summarize genetic
influences, and will note some of the pros and cons found in the top five
parent plants. Note: This section is rather theoretical and is
based partly on data and partly on one logical opinion. |
