The Pheonix Sword of Leadership was given to a seemingly unimportant soldier named Joseph Gathnor the Loyal after the Elf-Dwarf War in a huge ceremony in which the five heroes were honored. Joseph Gathnor was the highest of them. Therefore, his Sword was the dominant Sword of the five. The Pheonix of Leadership is an iron longsword with a golden crosspiece shaped like the protecting wings of a pheonix. Originally, the hilt was a jeweled representation of a pheonix head, but the last time the Sword was seen, the hilt was a normal metal piece wrapped in cloth. The Sword can be identified by the diving pheonix engraved at the base of the blade. As far as anyone on Balcarth knows, the last owner of the Sword was Jeffery Gathnor, son of Joseph. It hasn't been seen since his death, nearly three thousand years ago.
The Dragon Sword of Intelligence was the second sword given in honor to one of the five heroes. The Sword was given to Uthyr Korantoras the Strategist, a general during the war. The Dragon of Intelligence is an iron blade with a silver crosspiece shaped like the rigid, scaly skin of a dragon. The blade is marked at the base with an engraved picture of a dragon breathing fire. The hilt is a jeweled representation of the great lizards head. The Sword hasn't been seen since the time of it's first owner, Uthyr. One day, Uthyr was gone, nowhere to be found by anyone. He was never seen again, and neither was his Sword.
The Unicorn Sword of Helpfulness was given to Shawn Pendarus the Miracle Worker, the only woman to be honored at the ceremony, and the greatest of all nurses during the war. The Unicorn of Helpfulness is an iron blade with a silver crosspiece in the shape of the unicorn's flared tail. The blade is marked by the engraving of a rearing unicorn at the base of the blade. The hilt is a jeweled representation of a unicorn's head. Shawn married the son of the king that Joseph Gathnor had worked under, a man by the name of Siree Bara. The Sword remained in the Bara family until it was given to Minar Bara, the only person to survive the earthquake that killed her family and destroyed her home, as well as taking out most of her country. Minar later married a prince named Linte Rononok. The Sword was again passed down and now resides in the possesion of Gregory Rononok, the King of Hahnsenaria.
The Lion Sword of Cunning was the fourth Sword awarded at the ceremony and was given to Oenvar Dernhelmus the Deciever, who was then the King of a nation even then ceasing to exist. The Sword is an iron blade with a silver crosspice in the shape of a swiping lion's paw. The Sword is marked with an engraving of a roaring lion at the base of the blade. The hilt is a jeweled representation of a lion's head. Oenvar Durnhelmus was Uthyr Korantoras's best friend and disppeared at the same time, also taking the Sword with him. Just as with the Dragon, the Lion hasn't been seen since their dissapearance.
The Eagle Sword of Peace was the last of the Swords given. It went to Lawrence Sendor the Just. The Sword is an iron blade with a silver crosspiece in the shape of the wings and back of a flying eagle. The hilt is a jeweled representation of an eagle head. The base of the blade is marked with an engraving of a flying eagle. Lawrence Sendor was a man of such moral that he gained a great flock of benign individuals. The number of his gathering grew large enough to become a small country. After a few years, the followers did form their own country and placed Lawrence as it's King. The country they formed, Biopia, still exists today and is the oldest country on Balcarth. The Sword is currently in the possesion of Biopia's queen, Queen Gweneth Sendor.
