The Desert
Dragon Though a descendant of the Tasia dragons this species has only two genders- male and female. A full grown male stands five and a half to eight feet tall at the shoulder while the females tend to stand between six and ten feet tall at the shoulder. The ruff of fur sported by the Tasia has been replaced with scales to match the rest of their bodies. The pair of skull horns cresting the base of the Tasia dragon’s skull have been thickened and a second, smaller pair has been added in front of them for the males of the Desert species. The scales of the desert dragon reflect light, aiding them
in keeping cool at Desert dragons are warm blooded. The top of their wings
are thick and generally made to reflect heat while blood vessels running
along the thin-skinned bottoms of their wing membranes. Their scales reflect
light as well, aiding them in keeping cool at The reflection from their scales aids them in producing heat illusions, which can hide them in plain sight if need be. The magic of the Tasia has been left intact and nearly uninhibited inside of them. This makes them the most powerful of the Tasia-created species. The paws of the Desert dragon, both front and back, can feather out quite a bit, an adaptation to handle running in the deep sand of the dunes. They are omnivorous with a preference toward meat. Like the Tasia’s, Desert dragon scales have a unique property; when they are shed or otherwise take from the body, they become gems or unmarked coins of the same ‘make’ as the color of their hides. The colors of the Desert species run the same as Tasia Brodo and Tasia Sana (gold, silver, bronze, brass, copper, platinum, iron, ruby, citrine, amber, topaz (yellow), emerald, peridot, sapphire, topaz (blue), Lapis, iolite, amythest, opal (white), opal (black), or diamond). Unlike the Tasia, males can be metallic ‘female’ colors and females can be jewel ‘male’ colors. |
