My first Earth Dog Trial
This is my first Earthdog trial:
Day one: We got up early on a Saturday morning and me and mom were off! I must admit I was a little nervous and somewhat reserved at first. There were a bunch of these "wiener" dogs and tents and cages filled with these dogs, I've never been to anything like this, so I wasn't sure what was going on. I got to meet Kipper, another Terrier Club member, he is real cool and I'm joining some kind of cyber pack! Anyway we wait and wait for a intro test? Me and mom are together and she is telling me I'm going to "GO GET IT", well I can't wait, even though I don't exactly know what "it" is! Finally we are in a small area with someone called a judge and mom tells me to "GO GET IT"! So I'm looking and smelling all around and.... I can't find it??? So finally the judge tells mom to help, so mom calls me over and I see a tunnel (which I saw before, but yuck.... it was dark..) and she wants me to go in it! But there might be something down there, and sure enough after 10 feet and one turn there are two big rats!!! So I bark and bark, boy this is fun!! And now mom is all happy but wants me to come out. Well the cage of rats is moved and out I shot and I nearly grabbed those rats in mid air! And that was it!! I did pretty good, but since mom had to point out the tunnel I didn't qualify.
Day two: Back again, this time I'm not so nervous, but very excited cause I know what is going on!! Well, back we are and I'm ready!!! If mom would just let me go, I'll find them rats!! Finally we are with the judge again and mom says "GET IT" and I go right in the tunnel, right to the rats, and bark and bark (did I tell you I like this part)! And then mom is all happy and again she takes me away. We get a ribbon and everyone is happy, but I want those rats!! Next mom enters me in a earthdog junior test. Well several hours later, I'm promised more rats..... And we go to a different area and mom says to "GET IT", so I sniff around and start down a tunnel and...... this tunnel is much longer than the one before(did I mention it was very dark) and I look but just don't see anything and so I somehow turn around and come back out the entrance?? Then I go above ground and they just shoe me away from where I know those rats must be(by those judges) and that was it!! Can you believe, I didn't find the rats! But mom was still happy and said we'll do it again soon.

| I got this dumb ribbon that mom is all happy about, but I say who cares about a silly ribbon, I want to go and find more rats! |
