The Skulls                                              2 Jer Stars
So, I saw the preview for this on TV.  Can't say I was too impressed with it.  Just looked like on of those movies that would just be... can i say... blahhhh
There it was, one cloud covered day on the coast of Carolina, and myself and some friends went to watch the movie.  I screamed NO!!!, but they dragged me in by the ear... I fought them off best I could... There was twenty of them... and one of me... I lost.
(Actually, there were only 3 of us, and I did go rather peacefully.)
To tell the truth, it wasn't bad at all.  The movie keeps your interest, at least it did mine, and I have have the attention span of a gnat.  A few known faces are in this film.
I would say, if you are looking for a film with a little action, something you don't have to think too much about, and if you are one of those Gawd foresaken Dawson's Creek fans,  have ya a peek.

"Hollywood produces shit."
- John Travolta

I'm trying to figure out which i enjoyed most.  The movie or the tall blonde that worked at the movie theatre.  (bites hand).
With conflicting opinions of several folks, I tried to go into the film without much expectation.  But hell, it's John Travolta in an action movie.  I can't say in the last several action ones, he's let us down.  (Well, i've heard terrible things about Battlefield Earth... but i've not seen it personally).
It's gotta a hellva start.  Some cool photography.  And things aren't always what they seem.

Not a movie for children or young teens.

I was surprised there was more to the  movie after viewing all the previews and commericals that were done.  The film makers pulled back the movie trailor that had the Twin Towers in them after the 9/11 attacks.  There's a big web made between the two buildings and it catches a helicopter.  Which i thought was the best trailor out there.

Anyway, I have to mention my hate of cell phone users.  Three cell phone users either refused to, or forgot to, turn their ringers off during the movie.  God help you if you sit around me and it goes off.  (just a warning)... heh

I believe they did a great job with the movie in the sense of portraying  the youthful spider-man, and the goofs that would take place as a young super hero.  They also tried to stick to the story as close as possible.  But with my failing memory, I believe Peter had a lil lady by the name of Gwen that he liked before his fight with the Green Goblin... but i'm prolly wrong... so I'm gonna have to do some Spidey Research.

If yer a spidey fan, I say give the move a try.  I think you'll like it as much as I did.  I'm looking foward to the next one.

Spider-Man
Signs

The previews for this looked all right.  I didn't really expect too much from this film, but on the other hand, I wasn't sure what to expect to begin with.

Should have known better.  With Mel Gibson and all.

It is yet another movie that deals with the everlasting question of faith and fate.  That a few other things like crop designs and aliens and things like that.

For the story that was told, it stays fairly realistic.  Almost such believingly so, that one could wonder if you'll wake up tomorrow with the world in chaos.

The style of the film was a fresh relief from the modern conventional story telling that plays more on special effects than good suspense.  As the old saying goes... "The suspense was so thick, you could have cut it with a knife"  ... of course... knowing me... that could mean something totally different.

So... get done reading this, go find the movie Signs... and go watch it....
