Greetings in God, My Lord.

As per your request, the Hospitallers have been investigating those close to the College of Cardinals for rogues, infitrators and traitors to the Cyberpope's plan to bring God's will to this world. As per your suggestion, we have examined the past and present of each of your assistants and have come up with only one possible security risk, your personal confessor Fr. Claude Renier.

I trust that I do not need to repeat Renier's history to you, my Lord, as you figure prominently throughout it. You know that he came from a poor background and has risen through the ranks of the Church through the usual mix of God's Grace and hard work. You yourself placed enough trust in him to make him your personal Confessor, a position which you must admit carries great power and responsibility. For reference, however, I have included his personal file for your perusal.

Unfortunately, it would appear that your trust in Renier may be misplaced. My own "sources" have revealed that prior to the Great Blessing of the Lord, Renier had been meeting with members of this world's underground resistance. A spy placed high within the Resistance movement has confirmed that Renier used his medical knowledge to assist Resistance members on at least one occasion.

Admittedly, we have no knowledge that Renier has given them any assistance beyond certain Rites and medical assistance. However, our projections and meditations give us a 63% probability that Renier will give potentially damaging information to the resistance within the next month. In fact, our projections show a 30% probability that Renier has assisted Resistance movements on previous target worlds of the Crusade.

Our recommendation is immediate action, my Lord. Remove Renier from his position as your Confessor and place him under house arrest. We will take him in for interrogation and a trial before the Tribunal. If guilty, you know that the punishment for treason is the same as for consorting with Darkness -- burning at the stake.

I trust that you will not let your "family ties" with young Renier become an issue. It is well known that the man is your "nephew" and I'm sure that if you do not punish his treason, His Holiness may have a few choice words to say.

Please let the Order know of your decision as soon as possible. We await your command.

Your meesage has been recieved and meditated on, my son. After communing with God and the Net, I have decided that it would be wise to do as you suggest. Consider this message a warrant for the arrest of Claude Renier, I shall have an order for his excommunication drawn up myself. You are to capture him by any means necessary - dead or alive.

I do not care for your insinuations here, my son. Remember that even the vaunted Order of Hospitallers is NOT above the power of the College of Cardinals. Carry out your duty without making threats to those closer to God and the Net than yourself.

You have your orders. I expect you to have Renier before the Tribunal by the end of the week.

Re:Renier's Escape

I have recieved word of your inability to bring one pitiful confessor to justice, and frankly I am not impressed with the Hospitallers. Your stories of Resistance members and stolen cybernetics notwithstanding, I am beginning to feel that your organization is lacking in intelligence. I lay this blame soley at your feet as the head of the Order.

The College is holding you personally responsible for the capture of Renier. I understand from other sources that I have that he has left the country, although he remains on the Crusade world. Use the entire might of your organization to track him down if you must, Velya, but I must admit that your Order comes across as more inept with every failure.
