Homework Information
Homework is important because it teaches responsibility and helps students develop study habits.  In addition, homework helps to reinforce lessons that have been introduced in class and helps prepare students for upcoming lessons and tests.

Written homework is usually assigned on Monday through Thursday.  Although homework is not assigned on Friday, your child may have classwork that needs to be completed.  I recommend students to study spelling lists, math facts, and read on a daily basis.  I like to give time at the end of the day for students to bein work on assignments.  If time is being used appropriately, homework shoul NOT take more than 30 to 40 minutes to complete.

Please encourage your child to do his/her best work.  Homework should be neat and all written work done in pencil - unless otherwise specified.  When completing work on notebook paper, the heading should include name, student #, date, subject, and page number of the assignment.

Homework assignments are written on the board each day and ample time is given to write down the assignment.  In addition, I go over the assignment at this time, and remind the students what they should need to bring home.  There is no reason for a student not knowing the homework assignment, or for not having the proper supplies at home to complete it.  Please be sure to check the daily planner for assignments and communications from me.

If for some reason (sickness, emergency, etc.) a student is unable to complete assignments, please write a note and the assignment will be excused until the next day, or 2, if needed.  If homework is simply "LATE"' the student will be responsible for the work.  Full credit will NOT be given.  This consequence will help to prepare him/her to become a more responsible and independent worker.

From time to time, I ask students to make corrections to their work.  This is not a punishment, but instead another way to be sure that each student understands the work.
