| I know students (and parents) want to know how they will be assessed and evaluated. I consider many areas when figuring a student's final grade in each subject area. Obviously, the quality of daily assignments, homework, and projects are major factors in determining a final grade. I also evaluate a student's effort and participation in class. Occasionally, I send home grade reports throughout the quarter. If there are 1 or more zeros(for not handing in work), a student's grade may drop -- quickly. Neglecting work produces severe grade consequences. It is important for a student to develop reasonable work habits as he/she prepares to move up to the junior high and high school. Each day the students must hand in their assigned work into the appropriate subject bin. Every day a student helper and I will go through the work handed in and track it using checklists. Usually, students who haven't handed in work are notified and given a chance to fine it and/or complete it. |
