11. Potty Training Policy:

Potty training is a very important part of any childs development. I feel that it is best approached when both the parents and the providers feel that they child is exhibiting several of the known indicators of readiness (i.e.: able to pull pants on and off unassisted, tells you when they need to be changed, able to follow simple directions, shows an interest in using the toilet, etc.) I have several informational sheets and websites on this subject to help us all. If we try and the child is simply not ready, we will stop completely and take a break from it all, trying again at a later time. I do not use pull-up type products for potty training. They are too much like a diaper to help in this process. I have also found that children that have used pull-ups generally take much longer to potty train and continue to need them for quite some time for napping and sleeping. While children who have not used them tend to be potty trained rather quickly and remain accident-free from then on. Instead of pull-ups, I ask that you supply the thick, 5-ply, cotton training pants as well as plastic pants to go over them. You can find both of these items at Target, Walmart, or Kmart in the baby sections. At first, your child will need at least 6 pairs of training pants and 3 pairs of plastic pants each day. Any soiled laundry will be returned daily and replacements need to be brought the following day. If you follow the same techniques at home your child should be successful in potty training rather quickly. Your child will not be punished for any accidents. They will be asked to removed the soiled clothing and place it into a bag, help clean up if necessary, and be reminded of where they should be using the bathroom. I try to not use rewards for behavior, however, I have used stickers in the past for potty training. Lastly, if we work together and include the child and his needs in this process, things will go much more smoothly. Initials _____

In cases of planned vacation, a minimum of two weeks written notice is requested; full payment for each weeks fee must be paid in advance. This guarantees your childs space. I will be taking two weeks of paid vacation per year. I occasionally use my paid personal days towards vacation as well. I will give a minimum of two weeks notice for my vacation. More likely it will be very advanced notice. You will be responsible for finding care during this time. Back up providers can be referred if needed. Initials _____

I go to a minimum of 8 workshops or training seminars as well as attend Early Childhood college courses each year which help me be the best provider I can be. Please have a backup provider in case of an emergency. Initials _____

14. Field Trips:

I plan several trips throughout the year. I will ask that the parents pay for certain trips. For summer field trips, I will give you a monthly total for the coming month and need this amount in advance. If there are any additions, those trips can be paid as we go. If there is any balance from one month, I will apply it to the following month. Any child that is 3 years or older will need a VIP season pass to Great America which includes admission to Bonfante Gardens as well. The cost of this is the parents responsibility. Parents are always welcome to accompany us on trips.

Signing this contract implies that you are allowing me to transport your child in the proper restraints in my vehicle for field trips, various outings, and school drop off and pick ups. Initials _____
