This is information taken from the Martin Family Record Book written by W.S. Martin.
William Martin was born about 1760 according to his will of 1832.  William Martin was not recorded in the 1840 census, so he must have passed away before the 1840 census was taken.  We think William Martin died at the age of 72, and his will in 1832 would have made him 72 years old.  His wife, Susannah Tudor Martin, in the 1850 census, was living in Floyd County,Kentucky, with her baby boy, John Martin and his wife, Anna Gearhart Martin, Susannah Tudor Martin, born 1764, was 86 years old then, and was not recorded in the 1860 census, so evidently she had died before the 1860 census was taken, making her about 96 years old.

William Martin and wife, Susannah Tudor Martin and family came from Virginia to Kentucky about 1806 and located at the mouth of Patton Branch on Right Beaver Creek, then in Floyd County, now Knott County, Kentucky, and bought his first tract of land from David Morgan on December 4, 1808, and this deed is recorded in Book A on page 8, in the Floyd County Court Clerk's Office, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky.  This tract of land was William Martin's old homestead.  Then William Martin began buying the first patent land and his sons began buying the patent to back lands making a large boundary of land beginning at or near the mouth of Rock Fork Creek in Floyd County, Kentucky, thence running up Right Beaver Creek so as to include all the land on each side of Right Beaver Creek up to the Richard Hall Branch; the deed corner is on the upper Rock Lick, opposite the mouth of Richard Hall Branch, about one mile above Dry Creek on Right Beaver Creek now in Knott land in Floyd County, Kentucky.  Willam Martin and wife were buried in the Patton Fork area above Wayland, KY.

George Martin, born 1835, a grandson of William Martin and Susannah Tudor Martin became the owner of a part of the old homestead of William Martin and George Martin sold this old homestead to Judge David "Bud" Martin by Deed bearing date of October 27, 1873, recorded in Deed Book Number One on page 340 in the Floyd County Court Clerks Office at Prestonsburg, Kentucky.  Judge David "Bud" Martin's children own a part of this old William Martin homestead, near the mouth of Patton Branch on Right Beaver Creek in Knott, County, Kentucky.  The Martins have kept title of this old Martin homestead from 1808 to the present date of 1960.

The Nine children of William Martin and Susannah Tudor:

1.  David Martin born about 1784, thrice married: first wife, Millie Spradlin; second wife, Sallie Morris; and third wife, Fanny Rose.

2.  Susannah Martin born about 1788, married Eli Johnson on December 11, 1814, in Floyd County, Kentucky.

3.  Millie Martin born about 1790, married James Martin on February 18, 1811 in Floyd County, Kentucky.

4.  Joel Martin born about 1792, married Rebecca Fletcher on March 15, 1812 in Floyd County, Kentucky; second wife was Polly Morgan.

5.  Ann Martin born about 1794, married Patrick Johnson, June 13, 1813, in Floyd County, Kentucky.

6.  Rhoda Martin born abut 1799, married Elder Jesse Adams on June 4, 1816, in Floyd County Kentucky.

7.  Sallie Martin born about 1802, married Joe Gearhart, July 1, 1821 in Floyd County, Kentucky.

8.  William Martin, Jr. born about 1803, married Rita Adams.

9.  John Martin born about 1807, married Anna Gearheart on November 1, 1831, in Floyd County, Kentucky.

These nine children of William Martin, Sr. and wife Susannah Tudor Martin, were born in Virginia, except John Martin.  William Martin made a will.  We can not find the will but the record of the Floyd County Circuit Court shows that the will was contested in 1832.  The 1810 census shows William Martin was over 45 years old and probably 50 years old when 1810 census taken and was not recorded in the 1840 census in Floyd county, Kentucky, so he must have passed away before the 1840 census was taken.
