Setsuna Meioh

As Sailor Pluto, she first appears in R in Chibi-Usa's Luna-P. As Setsuna Meioh, she arrives midway in Sailor Moon S, claiming to be a long-time friend of Haruka and Michiru.

In Sailor Moon R, Sailor Pluto guards the gate of time with her Garnet Rod, which is shaped like a key. She is mysterious and beautiful, and she does not actively fight (though she'll "Dead Scream" or bash any intruders). She leads a fairly lonely life, as no one really visits her while she guards the gate except for Chibi-Usa, who fondly calls her Pu.

Pluto acts as a distant guardian of Chibi-Usa through Luna-P while the child is in the 20th century. She first shows herself to the Inner Senshi after Chibi-Usa has been overtaken by a droid in her dreams; she asks the Inners to save Chibi-Usa by entering her dreams and destroying the enemy. She later confronts them again after Chibi-Usa takes the Inners and Tuxedo Kamen with her to the future. She begins attacking Sailor Moon until Chibi-Usa tells her to stop; as an explanation, Pluto only says that Sailor Moon has given her trouble before. She then allows the senshi to pass through the Time Gate to the 30th century in Crystal Tokyo. That's pretty much her main role in R.

Pluto returns again in Sailor Moon S, and she reveals that she possesses one of the three Talismans, the Garnet Orb which is on the end of her Garnet Rod. At first taking the form of Setsuna Meioh, and after Uranus and Neptune take Usagi's compact and leave to confront Eudial, Setsuna comes to tell Usagi where the senshi have headed. In the Marine Cathedral, in episode 111, Setsuna transforms for the first time and saves Uranus and Neptune by allowing the Talismans to return the heart crystals to them. Setsuna hangs around with Haruka and Michiru, not really doing much, only watching Hotaru, until they try to destroy the girl in the planetarium, and keeping tabs on Small Lady. Once Chibi-Usa's heart crystal is taken, Pluto sets out with Uranus and Neptune in the helicopter to enter Mugen Gakuen. However, Mistress 9 destroys their helicopter, and in order to save the three of them, Pluto stops time, teleports Uranus and Neptune to the top of Mugen Gakuen, then vanishes. Her last duty in S is to tell Chibi-usa about Hotaru/Saturn.

For some reason, Sailor Pluto appears in the SuperS movie with Neptune and Uranus, but since the movies have little if no effect on the actual TV series, this appearance doesn't really have to be rationalized.

Setsuna returns in SailorStars in order to take baby Hotaru from her father, Souichi Tomoe. After the first arc, Setsuna occasionally pops up into episodes, generally in the accompaniment of Haruka and Michiru, and like those two, is hostile to the Three Lights/Starlights. At the end of SailorStars, she is killed when Uranus and Neptune take her star seed, but comes back to life after Chaos leaves Galaxia's body.
