I am trying to identify the parents and German birthplaces of my g-g-gparents,
Friedrich KLOEPPEL and Margaretha Barbara LENZ who immigrated to Cincinnati separately around 1850 and were married at St. Matthaeus Evang. Lutheran Church in Cincinnati, 16 Apr 1854.

From Delphos OH Lutheran church records, I know that Margaretha Barbara LENZ was b. 21 Mar 1827 or 1825 in OBERFRANKEN (upper Franconia), village/town not identified nor known.
Possibilities for her father include:
1. Michael Lenz, listed in 1849/50, 1850/51, & 1853 Cincinnati city directories, dry goods, W 5th St (between Race & Elm)
2. Mathias Lenz, 1855 Cincinnati city directory, & nat. record V. 31, p194
3. Leopold Lenz, 1856 Cincinnati city directory & 1860 census, Ward 10
4. Friedrich Lenz, 61, with dau's Margaretha, 24, and Elizabeth, 21, arrived in Baltimore from Gellershausen, DEU, 1 June 1850. I haven't located a Gellerhausen in Oberfranken?

Friedrich Kloeppel, b. 27 Jun 1823 (per Delphos OH Lutheran church records), Schwarzburg-Sonderhausen (village not known), DEU. Researching this area in DEU, I have found a Johann Friedrich Klöppel, b. 27 Mar 1822,in Gudersleben (a small village a few kilometers south of Sonderhausen), who immigrated to America in 1851. I believe this is my ancestor, but I do not know why the dates do not match. From the German records, it appears that the father of this Johann Friedrich Klöppel, Johann Heinrich Klöppel (b. 3 Jul 1800) came to America in 1852 with his second wife, Friederike Dorothea Penzler (b. 20 Jan 1828).

Any assistance or suggestions would be appreciated.

LENTZ listings

Hello, here a reaction from the Netherlands;
I am a LENTZ - daughter and since some years wandering in the jungle of LENZ or LENTZ;
Our first Len(t)z is living in Scheuern (Countship Nassau-Diez) around 1650;
as far as we know no one of our Lentz-es emigrated to the States or Canada (but in the 50-ties of this century).
In the nearest future I'm sending 2 Gedcoms to the My-Web organization of Dave Wilks; but I'm still updating the files, so you'll have to wait.
With regards,
Gertie Harkema-Lentz. - [email protected]

I am looking for Lentzes that have any connection to Pennsylvania, because it appears that my Lentz ancestors lived
all over the place in PA. Some of the places that come to my mind though are
: Westmoreland County (Irwin, North Huntingdon, Larimer, Ardara, Greensburg),
Allegheny County (Pittsburgh), Adams County, Berks County, York County.

I live in Tallahassee, Florida and have lived in Easley, South Carolina;
Berlin, Germany; and Winter Park, Florida, so I´m sure that Lentzes with PA
connections are all over the place too.

I´d love to hear from you.

Grandmother's husband LOWE was a house builder and so was WILLIAM. Grandmother went to California and WILLIAM went in the 1930s. Any info on this name would be most appreciated.

My name is Carl Lentz. My ancestrial name in Germany was Lenz. My father, John Henry Lentz, his father Heinrich C. Lenz and possibly his father (?) with other members of the family came from Braunschweig to Carlinville Illinois at about 1860.
I think they are listed in the 1860 census as Lance. My paternal grandmother was Lena (Sebers) Lenz. She died near 1960. Actual time and place are not known. My grandfather married Mary Krause and they had several children all who settled in or near Sedgwick county Kansas after 1878. We, my daughter and I, have been unable to find port of entry or actual date of entry to the U.S.. We have also not been able to find reliable records of the family in Germany. We have some information of other Lentz persons that might be of interest to others.

My Brick wall is yet another Peter Lentz. He was born 3 Mar. 1839. He served in the 4th Minnesota Infantry during the Civil War. His wife's name
was Bertha, ( maiden name unknown ) She was born in 1840. They had at least one child, Grace Ada Lentz who was born 20 Dec. 1869 in
Mankato, Minnesota. They eventually ended up in Santa Rosa, California where Peter died 2 Apr. 1919 and Bertha in 1920.
