  • INTER VARSITY CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP (IVCF), PHILIPPINES is a member of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES), worldwide inter-denominational evangelical movement of students which links student work in more than 140 countries. Presently, it has over 275,000 members throughout the world. .

IVCF begun when Gwen Wong, a staff of International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES), came to pioneer the student ministry in the country. Starting with about 15 Filipino College students, she helped form the “Timothy Club” that gathered daily for early morning prayer, weekly for bible studies and extended person-to-person witnessing. The group grew in number and created the need for more bible studies, training and workshops in various colleges and universities throughout Manila, punctuating those activities with the first IVCF missions conference.

  • We are a Christ-centered dynamic community of Filipino students and graduates worldwide, passionately participating in the building of God’s Kingdom in the world.
  • How did the team manage?

GT members Marycris Cuabo, Gladys Escobar and student leader Honelyn Martinez (Caraga State University, Cabadbaran), other grads and student volunteers all committed to teach the classes even if some of them had to travel from Butuan, Surigao del Sur or other places one or two hours away by bus. So the classes began in the 1st semester of this past school year, sustained by prayer and practical support of the GT, graduates and students till the end of classes..

The Grad Team, Regional Coordinator, Frannie Soliven, and student leaders were very happy about the recognition and the opportunity to share the gospel to high schoolers through the Values classes. Each class is held for one hour every Friday. The problem was there were about six sections per year level and they were either all at the same time or are mostly held simultaneously! Which meant conducting 20-24 Values Classes at practically the same time.

They will most probably have the same “problem” again this coming school year. We eagerly await their stories of how God used them to influence high schoolers they have been reaching for the Lord Jesus through the Values classes.

To Disciple students and graduates for Christ in all areas of life and equip them to serve the campuses, churches, and wider community.
