My Spiritual Life
My Testimony: I am a Christian. This text talks about my journey to seek out truth and the events leading to my discovery of Christianity. My testimony is written frankly and honestly from my heart and mind.
Great Books I have Read:
Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis- An amazing author. Truly humble approach yet profound statements. Very intelligently written. Great for anyone interested in philosophy or Christian apologetics.
What's So Amazing About Grace by Philip Yancy This book taught me the true meaning of love in action. Very heartwarming stories, almost "Chicken Soup for the Soulish" yet there are messages and thought provoking statements after too.
The 5 Love languages by Gary Chapman. An incredible book about relationships. Intended for marriage, yet I found that this book can be applied to any longterm relationship be it platonic or intimate. I whole heartedly recommend it for anyone who has loved or intends to love someone.
Boudaries by ?? This book has been fabulous in teaching me about how to not be taken advantage of, how to manage my time and respect others. It is truly an amazing book to show anyone how you can set limits with friends, family, work, dating and your self and find true contentment in those relationships.
Churches I have attended in the City
Southwood United: Part of the United Church of Canada. My home church!
Center Street Church: Up in the north on center street. Very Large, very popular among the nursing students (that attend church) at the U.
West Side King's Church: Who knew that an Old curling Rink could be so useful! Great services and close to home for me.
Country Hills Community Church: About 20 min outside Calgary on hwy 1A. Huge church. Great messages!
First Assembly: A popular church among people at my highschool Very Pentecostal. Tehilla Mondays are for College and Career type people. If you like revival meetings this is a good one for that!
St. Peter's Anglican Church: Very Traditional, Very beautiful. Right across the street from Henry Wise Wood (my highschool).
Holy Spirit Catholic Church: I'm not Catholic but I really felt welcome there, (except for the time my bike got stolen ). I'd still go back there though.
First Alliance: Traditional Evangelical church. Has a tonne of resources for those interested in pursuing Spiritual life. Emphasizes heavily on Mission work.
The OTHER Bible edited by Willis Barnstone. Ever wonder what happened to the books that Didn't make it into the Bible. If you're like me and you have, this is interesting reading for you. Covers the Jewish Pseudepigrapha, Christian Apocrypha, Gnostic Scriptures including the Gospel of Thomas, the Kabbalah and The Dead Sea Scrolls. A must for any religious historian!
In My Fathers House By Max Lucado. This is a reflective book about how God is Real. Not only is He real but He desires us to be adopted children in his Kingdom. This book helps me to remember that in this hugely scientific world, God is not merely an entity that controls the cosmos. He's the Father of my life and he Cares about ME.
