Hi!
We are on a spiritual journey. These songs and
pages hold some pieces
of mine, bits that I have picked up along the path.
I'm bringing them
out of my pocket here to show you.
The odd thing about this journey is that we are
traveling deeper into
our own hearts, and the heart of God, rather than
climbing the ladder of
human accomplishment. At least, we should be.
Sometimes I think we
forget and get sidetracked for awhile, we snooze
out in that field of
poppies on our way to the emerald city.
In the spirit, things that don't matter here are
very important. And
things that people find so darned important in the
rush of life and
success don't matter at all. I am fascinated by
this paradox, the
Kingdom of God, the ultimate flip flop of values.
It is in this truth
that I have found comfort, knowing that the seeds I
am sewing are much
more than they appear, the acts of kindness, of
service, of
understanding are building a Kingdom. And each
heart has a home, and a
purpose.
This is what the song Sleeper is about. We don't
always see the
potential force of a little dead seed in the
ground, but there is
potential beyond your wildest dreams in every
transaction of love you
can think of to do. I am crazy enough to believe
that those of us who
find this world somewhat dissatisfying, with it's
injustice, cruelty,
and heartlessness, are actually building another
world, a world that is
yet to come. That by living and moving by the
Spirit of God, we are
building His Kingdom, and we are actually a part of
the building, living
stones, with His words written upon our hearts.
So the church is not some place you go, it is you,
it is a Kingdom of
the heart, a state of mind, a way of life, a flow
of ministry to others,
and an opening up of your self to others. . And we
can enter into this
state of heart here and now, like Christ did, and
in this bring more of
His Kingdom into our midst. And it can happen at
any moment of any day,
completely outside of any institutions, buildings,
programs, time slots.
It's all His honey. Every hour, every place. It's
the church whenever
you are loving on your brother. You can sit in a
building forever and
not do that. It is dynamic, fluid, alive, creative.
It is yours! It is
also
humble work without pay or praises. But man, is it
good.
It's here, and you are it. The sooner you embrace
that the better cuz
even if you don't know this, you are living it.
Nobody's going to do
this for you, they can't, it's you baby. Take up
your liberation and run
with it.
Sometimes my spirit falls asleep for awhile, until
something comes along
to wake me from my spiritual stupor. Oddly, I
function just fine in my
walk in the world even though my spirit is half
dead. It is in the
spiritual walk that I am comatose. I feel that God
sends me things to
snap me out of these times, and this song was one
of them. I hope it
wakes up some other slumbering spirits as well.
The other writings on this page are largely devoted
to church without
religion, to following Christ without getting hung
up in the Kingdom of
man, to living it through your life rather than
just embracing an
ideology or philosophy, to being who you are meant
to be, Christ's
living body walking this planet. It's easy to like
an idea, but it's
harder to commit to living it. Don't wait around
for anyone to release
you into this. Don't expect others to affirm you or
bless you or support
you. Don't wait for a special word from a big shot,
or a lightning bolt
from heaven to write it in your pancakes. Get up
and live it now. It's
you and it's now.
Remember that God will take you on a trip into
being your original true
self, free of pretense or fear. Don't try to copy
other people, don't
compare yourself to them, give God the chance to
show you who you are,
and bring out that within you that we all need to
see and hear. The rest
of the church needs you to be yourself in God, not
some clone of a clone
of a clone. Just be honest and God can bring it
out.
Lean on others for support truth and friendship,
but don't wait for them
to tell you what to do. You are already released.
You might just not
know it .......yet.
Enjoy it Child of God,
Jenny
