Note: John Wallace was born in Burkes Garden, Virginia. He was A First Lieutenant in both the Union and Confederate Armies... John Wallace married Sarah "Sally" Jones. They had six Children, one daughter and five sons. Their children from eldest to youngest include : William P. , James"Jim"H., Greenville Adam, Francis Marion, John Albert and Mary Louise.... John Wallace and his oldest son, William p., were enlisted in the Union Army in the Dunlow area of Wayne Co., Va. This area is now part of West Va. They served in the 16th Virginia Calvary of Ferguson. Lt. John Wallace served in CO# 29 Regiment in the Virginia Infantry. For geographic reasons, Lt John Wallace and his son William P., joined the Condfederate Army in Tazewell Co., Tazewell, Virginia. Civil War Records indicate that Lt.John Wallace joined the Confederate Army on April 2, 1862. He resigned his army commission on Au. 8, 1864, the day following his eldest son, william P.'s death... John wallace died on Aug 13, 1864, only five days after his offical resignation from the Conderate Army. He is buried at Johnny Cake, West Virginia, near Iaeger, in McDowell County, West Virginia......per Sandra Deskins Raffield
