Whatever Makes You Happy

Heero closed the distance between the two in one liquid motion. Smiling slightly, Heero opened his mouth and gently caressed Duos bottom lip with his tongue. Duo sighed slightly and opened his mouth, inviting Heero in. The kiss was as passionate as it was brief.

It finally came to Heero that he was indulging in a mindless fantasy. He felt Duo pull him closer, caress his back, slide his hand across his naked torso...and he wanted that so much; he just didnt want to put Duo through all of that pain.

What the hell am I doing here?
I dont belong here

Duo suddenly felt Heero pull away. He opened his eyes and found that he was staring into the soul of the friend hed brought home last night, not the stranger from a moment ago. He blushed fiercely.

Duo opened his mouth to say something, anything at allbut what came instead was a shrill blast that sliced through the latent atmosphere with ear-splitting violence.

Heero swallowed and grabbed his shirt from the sink, not even bothering to shake off the tiny particles of glass that clung like teardrops, and followed the sound out of the bathroom.

"Trowas here."

The statement wafted back to Duo as though on a gentle breeze and suddenly he felt light headed. He couldnt speak; he just followed him out to the living room, treading over the delicate trail of silver in Heeros wake.

Duo stood just inside the door, watched him walk down the steps; and then he set his jaw and closed the door on the friend who had become so much more than what he had expected.

Whatever makes you happy
Whatever you want

Duo sighed and looked down at the floor. Pain stung him so suddenly that he nearly crumpled to the ground. All of those crimson patches on the carpet belonged to him by right and by titleso why did he feel like hed shed it all for Heero?

He sighed and slumped to the floor just inside the door; the sunlight reflecting off of the glass lodged in his feet creating prisms on the wall.

Duo never saw Heero pause on the walkway. He never knew what went through his mind at that moment.

Youre so fucking special
I wish I was special

Hed wanted to say that inside...but his voice wouldnt support such an admission. He had, for a moment, the peculiar thought of waltzing back into Duos house and sweeping him off of his feet...just living in the moment. Heero looked up. Trowa was looking at him as if hed just spent all afternoon standing on that one stone and can we please hurry up and get the hell out of here, because I have a life you know?

He scoffed at himself and shook his head. Who was he kidding?

But Im a creep
Im a weirdo

Heero opened up the drivers side door and tossed his shirt in the back seat; the glass mostly littered on Duos living room carpet, and gave the house one final cursory glance.

Trowa poked him gently in the side.

What the hell am I doing here?
I dont belong here

Heero blinked and slid into the drivers seat. Without a second look, he popped the car into gear and backed out of the driveway. Trowas was a good fifteen miles away...

I dont belong here
