Rick's mother, Judy, has some really great plants around the house.

Notice the Scarecrow on the left. This picture was taken a few days before Halloween, and the rosebush is budding.

These were taken pretty close to Thanksgiving

This is called Hyacith Bean Vine. The hummingbirds just LOVE these. The window in the background is the kitchen window. Judy and I will watch the birdies while we chat.

Notice FULL bloom in April and May. Back in Connecticut you don't see full bloom roses until at least June

Pink Hibiscus

Judy calls these "Surprise Lillies" ... she didn't plant them, they just kind of pop up and say "Surprise, you've got a lily" you see them popping up in yards and along the roadsides all the time. One yard will be chuck full of them, the yard next to it will have one or none at all.

Same lily, just a closer view. Judy got this one. One house down the street from her was red with them, you could barely see they had grass.

Another case of the amazing temps making flowers last longer or bloom earlier. This is Judy's Jasmine. This picture was taken New Year's Day 2007. The incredibly warm temps caused the plant to bloom way early. Unfortunately it got cold a few days later. Hopefully it'll re-bloom in the spring when it's supposed to.
