Adam's Quilt
Here's the finished quilt spread out on our bed.
Ignore the clutter, and yes, with all those stuffed animals on the headboard
it does look like the room belongs to a 14 year old girl lol.
This is an actual pocket. I sewed it closed, used
waste canvas to stitch his name and the date on it and added a button that
came from one of the shirts used for the squares. I meant to have the top
part of the pocket open-ish ... it's sewn shut along the line just above
the button, but the top flap part was still open. But I forgot to pin the
flap back when I sewed the square together, so except for the button you
really can't tell it's a pocket. Oh well
A closer shot of the pocket patch.
Anticipation is making me wait! He took his sweet time opening the package.
I wanted him to be a typical kid and rip into it so fast I didn't have time
to actually take a shot of him unwrapping ... but noooooooooo he had to do
it nice and slow.
Finally! He yanked it out of the box fast enough lol
Here's where he discovered the patch with his name on it. "NO one else can
say it's theirs!"
I made him hold it up some so that I could actually get a good picture
of him with it.
"No Chris, you can't take it down to the camper" ... Rick's brother made
an off-hand remark about stealing it to use in the camper he's been sleeping
in. Thing is, it's kind of hard to tell if he was joking or not, Rick's brother
tends to be selfish and self-centered.
He even wraps up in it to play video games. I swear the kid is always
cold, even in the summer time.
So there it is, not anything fancy, definately not perfect, but the kid
loves it so I think it's a huge success for a first quilt!
