My ancestors were Moses and Sarah nee Jones Pugh
Their son Rowland Pugh married Catherine Herbert.
Children: John 1826,David 1827,Moses 1829,Thomas 1831 Rowland 1834, Maria 1832, William 1836 and Morgan born 1 may 1839 at Varkey Hill.
Thomas Pugh married Hannah Miles the daughter of William Miles and Ann Davis.
Hannah was born in Breacon 1832 One of her brothers went to Ohio in USA and became a professor of music. Thomas and Hannah came to Australia arriving in Port Adelaide on the ship the Hoogley. After leaving Adelaide they moved to Tarnagulla in Victoria where all of the children were born Hannah died in 1885 and is buried in Tarnagulla. Thomas came to Broken Hill to be with his daughter Sarah Sanderson
William Davis came from Llangattock Llanelly Wales.
The Pugh family came from Tregynon Montgomeryshire Wales.
Thomas Pugh died in Broken Hill in 1897 and is buried with his daughter in the Broken Hill cemetery. I have found very little on the family back in Wales. I have a photgraph of Ann Davis taken in Wales with her other daughter Sarah who may have married Mr Phillips. William Miles was born 1806 Penyffydd Lwyn and was a coal miner and his wife Sarah Davis was born 1809 daughter of Sarah Jones. Other children of William and Ann are: John 1837, William 1840, Ann 1843, Margaret 1846, David and Thomas twins 1848.
Sarah Ann Pugh died in Broken Hill in 1907 aged 47. Her husband George Sanderson died in 1936. They are not buried together.
