| I have been working on my Jenkins family for 19 years. I have come to a dead leaf on my tree. William Jenkins born c 1818. He married Ann Jones a servent in the St James Church Melbourne Victoria on the 23rd October 1843. His occupation was a carpenter and shoemaker. His first son Edward William Jenkins was born on the 11th September 1843. On all of Edwards childrens certificates he states he was born in London but he was born in Australia. The family moved to Geelong and were Presbyterian. Ann Jenkins died 20th December 1852 in Geelong. Other children, my Great Gerandfather Samuel Jenkins was born on the 6th November 1845 at Geelong and Charlotte Jenkins born 1950. After the death of Ann William may have remarried but I can not find any record. As William Jenkins is so common. I have applied for many certificates but all unknown detail given. He lived around Bendigo and had a brother Joseph Jenkins who came to Australia in 1852. Samuel Jenkins married Clemintine Tiffen in Campbells Creek on the 8th February 1873 and the family moved to Warbreccan Station via Deniliquin. My grandfather John Jenkins was born there in 1881. Then the family moved to Broken Hill becoming one of the first pioneers. On arriving in Broken Hill the family settled at Little Broken Hill in the Rockwell paddock. Before building their home at 157 Morish Street. Samuel and Clem moved to Adelaide with most of the family. My grandgfather John married Ellen Mullane on the 26th January 1910 in Broken Hill They both lived in Broken Hill many years before dying. They are buried in Broken Hill |
