Broken Hill Author, Historian
              and Researcher
Jenny Camilleri born in Broken Hill. I have had a keen interest in local history since 1984. I have been the Secretary of the Broken Hill Family History Group since 1984 also. The Broken Hill Family History Group was formed in 1978.
I have worked as a Volunteer at the Charles Rasp Library since 1984. I have published two books relating to the history of Broken Hill. My first book was about the pioneers and my second book was written about our women. Over the years the BHFHG has indexed all of the local newspapers since 1884 and we have a great collection of local family history to offer the researcher. A fee applies to use our records or membership is available.
I have researched all of my family history and on some lines I have came to a sudden halt. Others I have traced back to 1680.
I am a 5th Generation Australian and have a great love for the History on Broken Hill.
I received my Citizenship Award in 2001.
I am always working on many different project. I have covered the Shirley Temple competition held in 1936. The Movie Star lookalike competition 1937. The biggest baby competition 1934. Miss Silver City. Broken Hill has a wonderful record of being a very friendly town. I am in attendance at the Charles Rasp Library 4 mornings each week Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am to 1pm.
