TWENTY THREE :  Parents
Time seems to quicken

but the days are passing in circles.

  You apologize for abandoning me

but I've heard it twice before.

My trench deepens

  from plowing the same track
          over and over.

I would go East, but I am

  tethered to a tragedy.

I await the day when their rope

    tightens around my collar.
