This costume was one of my biggest accomplishments and also one of my most difficult tasks ever. The entire dress was made from pink pleather. The top was designed, using a chinese shirt pattern, and putting in some additional darts. The jacket was then lined with a pink cotton material (to make it a bit cooler to wear) and sewn. | ||||||||||

| The trim was hand sewn to the jacket, and the epaulets, pockets, buttons, zipper, and triangles were added on. The underskirt was made of a light, sheer teal material and hand-stitche in place. The cuffs were designed and trimmed, and the buttons added. The skirt was made to fit the hoopskirt by altering a skirt pattern, sewing it, and adding a satin waistband. The wig, shoes, and crown were purchased. This is probably one of the hardest costumes that I have ever made (to wear) because the pleather acts like a sauna. It looks wonderful, but the heat is overbearing in the Florida climate. Possible future plans include perhaps remaking this gown in a lighter material, as it weighs 18 pounds! | ||||||||||||
