This costume was originally made to complement my own Miaka costume. The materials chosen were black peachskin for the outer layer and the pants, and black rayon for the lining. 6 black frogs were painted gold to match the original design, and 5 yards of gold 5/8" ribbon and 1/2 yard of gold lame were used in making the other accents. The headband was made from pale blue peachskin, and the sash was made from peachskin of a royal blue color. The outfit was made using a pattern for chinese style pajamas, and the hemline alteration was made to match the original. The gold ribbon trim was then sewn on, and around the collar and arms, a "casing" was made to mimic the trim a little better and prevent fraying. The frogs were removed from an existing blouse, painted, and | |||||||||

| glued in place with hot glue made for fabric. The sash was done by joining long strips of fabric together, interfacing them, and then sewing them to lay somewhat flat. The headband was made in the same way, except it was not interfaced, so it would remain more flexible. The pants are loose-fitting with an elastic waistband, and were made from the same pattern. This is another of my roundabout costumes, seeing that it has rarely been on the same person twice! Although it did make a 10-minute appearance at FITCon with the same female Tamahome as I had at the JACO Halloween party! Total cost: About 40.00 Time Spent: About 15 hours Sold on Ebay for 45.00 July 2002 |
