Miki Kaoru This costume has become one of the more versatile ones in the collection, as it has never been worn by the same person more than once, but always seems to look good on whoever wears it! Materials used were a white chef's jacket, red, white, and blue satin, red 5/8" ribbon, gold 5/8" ribbon, 4 1" gold buttons, 4 5/8" gold buttins, interfacing, blue cord, a gold bolo clip, gold tulip paint, and velcro. The jacket was modified to look more like Miki's costume by redoing the hem and tailoring the front. The blue sleeve was sewn to the existing one, and the gold trim was added. The cuffs were again made freehand, interfaced and trimmed with the buttons and red ribbon. The epaulets were cut from red satin, interfaced, and shaped properly, then trimmed and the large buttons were sewn on. They were made to be

removable by using snaps on the underside, which also makes for more convinient washing. The pants were found and hemmed to each user's proper length (I have 3 pairs of Miki pants now) The costume fastens in the front with hidden velcro, and the entire jacket was trimmed with the red ribbon. The wig was ordered from a local wig shop, but was sadly the wrong color. When I tried to dye it, the synthetic material went haywire and it looks rather odd now, because it frizzes on the top. Maybe a new wig is in order. This costume has also been out on parade several times and may be approaching retirement, but I hope that we can still use it some more!
