merry, merry!

i woke up at 8 a.m. as my mother called from sweden to wish me a merry christmas. in the background, i could hear our birds chirping, and my brother lifting lids to food pots and complaining about everything and nothing, loudly. yeah. definitely christmas today. hee.
after the call, i got another phone call, this time from angela, assuring me that all was well. we discussed this book we're sort of co-reading (fast food nation), and the horrid things about the food industry it tells of. let's just say... cook everything you eat well. very, very well. shudder!
a lazy nap on the couch with the dog as a pillow (seriously) later, i was awoken by a knock on the door. panic, panic! i ran around trying to find the key to the door and grabbing the dog and whatnot, and when i finally got to the door, there was nobody. just a fedex box on the stairs for angela. ooh, excitement.
watched speed a bit (i can't help it, i have affection for keanu reeves eyebrows and sandra bullocks grins), and then another phone call. this time, it was the entire clan back home checking in on me. they had just finished eating christmas dinner and opening all their gifts. jimmy told me he'd gotten to play santa for the kids present. haha.
so now i feel all gushy and mushy and things. it's not that we had anything major to discuss. there was just something warm and fuzzy about being the recipient of a call from a phone in sweden being passed from cousin annelie, to cousin's son (who i babysat this past summer), to my mother, to my granny (who couldn't make out a thing i said, but is alive nonetheless), back to mom...
..then to cousin tobbe (who i got to make jealous because i've seen a handful movies that have yet to open in sweden, like monsters, inc.), to my brother, and finally, my aunt gittan. she promised to look for another sweater like the neat ones i always wear and get compliments on here. there's only one store that carries them. nuts.
they've got snow. of course, none of them like it, much like em, and i totally understand. snow's a bitch. i just miss it. shrug. i'm a sweden bean. it feels like a regular october day here. except i've got the christmas tree blinking at me, and a phone that keeps ringing for me to suck me into christmas as usual.
tonight, me and the dog have a walk around the neighborhood planned. need to check out garden light ornaments while we can. and there it is. chriiiiistmas. somebody punch me. please. i'm too woozy like this. cin cin! 4:12 p.m.
