BOBBER FISHING
Rainbow Trout, Largemouth Bass, Catfish, Crappie, and Bluegill will frequently bite a worm (about3/4 of an inch long).  Place a bobber 2 to 5 feet above your hook (#6 for trout and Crappie, #10 for Blue gill, #1 for Catfash and Bass).  Place two size #7 split shot sinkers one foot above your hook.  Place a piece of worm on your hook, and your ready to go.

STILL FISHING
One of the most popular techniques for Rainbow Trout is "still" fishing.  Place a #9 sliding egg sinker on your swivel.  Add 2 feet of leader to your hook.  Dough baits such as Berkley Power Bait are very popular for this method.  Dough baits are best fished on a #14 treble hook.  If using other baits such as single eggs, nightcrawers, or marshmallows, a #6 single hook is better suited.  Remember when using eggs or night crawlers for "still" fighing to use a marshmallow in conjuction with the other bait.  The marshmallow will help to float the bait off the bottom.  Dough baits float by themselves.  For Catfish, a bait of an entire nightcrawer, by itself, works best.  After rigging up make your cast, reel out slack line, and wait for a bite.

CRAPPIE AND BLUEGILL
A 1/16 or 1/32oz plastic Crappie jig set 2 to 5 feet below a bobber is an excellent way to catch the delicious eating panfish.  After casting use a slow stop-and-go retreival method to intise these frisky fish.  Jegs come in many colors, but the top providers are green/white, yellow, black, pearl, and red/white.

RODS, REELS, AND LINE
A 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 inch spinning rod with 6# test will match this rod perfectly.  Remember to buy a quality monofilament line, and for only a for the added expense the investment of a quality line will berform much better.  Children maybe better suited with a spin cast rod and reel.

No matter what the age of the angler is, these techniques are easy to use and very effective.
