CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR PLAN

 

Dear Parent,

            I am delighted that your child is in my class this year!  We can all look forward to many exciting and rewarding experiences as the year progresses.

            As I firmly believe that life-long success depends on self-discipline, I have developed a classroom discipline plan that affords every student the opportunity to manage his or her own behavior.  Your child deserves the most positive educational environment possible for academic growth.  This is the plan that will be in place for the school year at all times:

 

Classroom Rules:

 

  1. Raise your hand and wait to be called upon before speaking.
  2. Listen carefully and follow directions the first time they are given.
  3. Keep your hands, feet, objects and inappropriate comments to yourself.
  4. Be respectful of other people’s rights and property.
  5. Toys, games, candy, and invitations stay at home unless given prior permission to bring them to school.

 

To encourage students to follow the rules, I like to reinforce appropriate behavior with stickers, pencils, homework passes and extra free time.

 

If a student chooses to break a rule:

1st time                         Yellow Card      Warning                      

2nd time             Green Card       Counseling

3rd time             Purple Card      Part time study hall during recess & note home to parent

4th time             Blue Card         Full time study hall during recess & note home to parent

5th time             Red Card          Consultation with principal & note home to parent

Sever clause (fighting, cursing, etc.)- immediately sent to principal

The student must flip his/her card when a rule is broken.  The student’s cards are turned back to Good Morning Cards each morning.

The students and I have discussed this plan in class, but I would like for you to please discuss this at home, then sign and return it.  Thanks!
