Soufriere, St. Lucia

Above, a view of St. Lucia's second largest city, Soufriere. Towering above are the twin peaks, called The Pitons, which rise more than 2,500 feet above the sea.  On the left hand side of the photograph, in the background directly above the highest leaves of the plant in the foreground, is white smoke coming from Mt. Soufriere -- a volcano that erupted nearly 300 yeaars ago but is still smoking.
