LADY GWENDALYN FAYRFAX
I Have been a medieval reenactor for a number of years. I participate
at a Renaissance Festival every year. I like to wear low-cut bodices.
It's fun! I still turn a few heads even at my age.
My life: by Lady Gwendalyn Fayrfax
I was born in England in 1519. My father was a rich cloth
merchant, so I had access to fabric from all over the world and I like
to make clothes styled after ones from different countries. When I was
a young lass a man climbed over the wall of my father's castle. He saw
me in the garden and was smitten with me. He hid in the shadows and
that very night he snuck into the castle and held a knife at my father's
throat and said: "either you leave your daughter and your castle and
take your wife and leave this castle and never come back, or I will slit
your throat right now! My father obeyed. I was happy with the man
that came over the wall for seven years until he ran away with a
red-headed woman from Ireland. I sold my father's castle, not knowing where he was, and moved to Scotland to be with my cousins, the Fergusons.
Scotland is a dangerous place, don't you know, and I have learned to wield a
sword and dagger from my dear cousins. I am especially close to Ruth
Ferguson. I am now in my 40's and hae not married again. Still
lookin' fer someone the pad me road wi'. I spend a lot of time singing and
am happy. Preminition: I will die in 1581.
