Jennie Powell has been given a God given talent that she has used greatly during her fifty years of ministry. She does her paintings and drawings in water colors, oils, pencil, chalk and many other mediums; she is not limited in this talent that God has so greatly blessed her with.
Not only has Jennie used this in her ministry but she has generously given of her paintings and drawings to her family and friends. How often all of us, including especially me, have received cards from her and I was most blessed to be given one of her chalk paintings. The cards that she sends has brought happiness to many people and cheered a lot of lonely people. The hours she has spent working on these cards and paintings is something that can never be repaid, but I know that everyone who has received them, like me, will always treasure them. The painting that is hanging in the living room of my aunt's home, Elma Hazelton, is greatly treasured as she and Jennie have been life long friends and were room mates at Central Bible Institue in Springfield, Missouri.
Most of the cards that you will see on the following pages will show only the front and not the verse that she has written on the inside. But there are some that I have combined the inside with the front and it will appear as one card. I have done this as these cards had wonderful drawings on the inside too, along with the verse. Jennie has a unique way, that no one else has, of making a card fold three ways where often the outside of the card will have the edge make the first letter of the first word on the front of the card.
Most of all I would like to thank Vickie Thorp for all of her assistance, without it there would have been only a very small amount of paintings and drawings for you to see. She has spent countless hours of time in photographing, scanning and sending me these pictures. She has helped me to co-ordinate them and categorize them for your viewing. She is a wonderful and loyal friend of Jennie's and also, most fortunately for Jennie, is her next door neighbor. Vickie and her family have been like an extended family for Jennie and I wish we could all be as fortunate.
Jennie is also very fortunate to have two wonderful, loving sisters and lots of wonderful nieces and nephews. In fact, she has a large family consisting of cousins, aunts, etc. throughout the United States and they are all very close and have given her a lot of support. I am not related to Jennie, but I certainly feel like it, especially when she gave me the greatest compliment and said that I was just like a daughter to her. Well, mom, I want you to know that I love you so very much and you have been one of the greatest blessings in my life. You have had such a great impact on my life since I was a little girl, and that has been many years ago. My greatest desire is that God will greatly bless you for being such a blessing to all of us.
I am sure that the following pages will be an inspiration and a blessing to you. It will also bring you a lot of humor; as Jennie has a very unique sense of humor that you will find in her cards, that will be most enjoyable.

*I would like to express a special "Thank You" to Jennie's grand niece Amber Harden for so graciously contributing paintings from her personal collection that she had received from her grand aunt Jennie.
