Ever feel like you are being stared at?? I believe that this giraffe is Nairobi. One of three male Reticulated giraffes at the Honolulu Zoo.
Nairobi coming for a closer look and, apparently, some relief.
This "little" one is Makana (Hawaiian word for "gift") Born 9/17/99. Newborn giraffes stand about 6 feet tall and weigh in around 150 pounds. Makana came out as tall as I am. Makana is also standing behind a very impressive set of legs. I don't know if these legs belong to mom or dad, but I do know I do NOT want to be standing in the way of them.
