Hello and welcome to the Royal High Color Guard website.  I'm guessing that if you are visiting this website then you already know what guard is, but then again there is a chance you don't, so if you don't I will attempt to explain to you what it is.
Guard is the mixture of dance, equipment, and performers put togerher to produce a spectacular performance of emotion and colors.  Guard is "The sport of the arts."  In guard there is two seasons; Marching Season or Field Season and Winter Guard.
Field Season is the where the guard performs and comperes with the Marching Band or Drum Corp against other teams from around the state and sometimes nation, depending on what level your team is at, to see who has the most dramatic show and how much skill is used throughout the show.  Feild Season is performed in football stadiums in all types of weather.
Now for Winter Guard.  Winter Guard is usually from mid-Decemeber to about mid-April.  It is where the guard memgers and guard instructors can really show off their talents and skills.  Winter Guard is performed indoors in arenas and gyms.  The music for Winter Guard ranges from classical to hard rock.  Guards compete around the world for the World Championship title.  Winter Guard is much more hard-core in the ways of dance, emotion, and skill.
Guard requires an incredible amount of dedication and patience.  Most teams in the circuits put up with more crap from other people then pretty much any other team sports and some people may think I'm wrong but ask a guard member what they do through some time and you'll realize how little respect most of them get, how much pressure  they deal with, and how many obstacles they go through to be on the team they're on.  I can't tell you why we do it because different people have different reasons but I do know it deserves more respect them it gets. Well I hope I have help those who don't know a lot about guard  understand it a bit better.  I hope you continue to browse through this site.  If you have any questiond or cpmments feel free to email me at
