Triffin Pool

behind her in the water. Next to her is a cute little pink and green creature. It smiles shyly and waves a hello. You turn back to the young woman and she smiles too, holding out her hand. "My name is Betheyn, but you can call me Beth. I keep an eye on all of the triffins in the pool. This little sweetheart here," she indicates the pink/green creature, "is Saai. Jennalyn adopts them from Dana and brings them to live here with me. She was the very first."

Just then, a small rippling in the water catches your eye. You ask Beth what it is and she turns to look, getting a faceful of water when a black and violet triffin erupts from the water. Saai starts scolding her, but is cut off by a rude flick of the other's tail. The mermaid frowns at the naughty triffin and turns to explain.

    "This is our troublemaker, Cless. Her temper is often as vivid as her colorings and she likes to play tricks and be a rebel. She's not bad, just so full of energy thst she doesn't know what to do with it all. She has the rare darker coloring and a single fin, which is also uncommon." You nod understandingly. Then you turn to look at a little black splotch in the water, very small, almost unnoticable.
     "Oh, that's Cless's new little son, Koh," she says when she notices what you're looking at. "We're not really sure what to make of him yet, he just sits back and watches. He'll probably gain more of a personality as he grows. He's a dark too you know, just like his parents and twin sister. She lives with her father, Guy, and her name is Rhy."
     Beth looks off towards the fading sun, then at the triffins. "All right you three, it's late enough. Back underwater for some dinner, then straight to bed." Cless looks about to argue, but then decides against it and follows her son when he dives into the deeper waters. Saai waves a little goodbye before she leaves.
     "Please come and visit again," says Beth politely.
