This element consists of two lessons that teachers can use to help their students explore a topic while using the World Wide Web.
How long did you work on this element?
Each lesson took about three hours to create, locate links, pictures, and ideas.

Why do you think it is a good piece of work?
It is very creative, visual, and it gives the kids a chance to learn on their own in a nontraditional way.
What does this work show about your abilities as an
educator?

I can come up with alternative ways for students to learn.

This project was conducted over 5 days. I tested the ozone and charted contributing factors.
How long did you work on this element?
5 days of data gathering (strip sat for an hour) and data entry. Two hours of website design and summary paper work.

Why did you choose this piece for your portfolio?

Why do you think it is a good piece of work?
I tried to make a professional page to display my results and completion questions, and I think I did.
What does this work show about your abilities as an
educator?
If
I was able to complete this activity as prescribed, I would have shown that I
could do a world wide project with my students.

Over the last semester I have built a warehouse of pages that relate to me personally and me educationally
How long did you work on this element?
I'd rather not do the math...let's say several days worth of hours.

Why do you think it is a good piece of work?
I work very hard to create all of my different pages.
What does this work show about your abilities as an
educator?
That
when I do get a class, that I can make an awesome website for them and their
parents to utilize.

Since I do not have a class yet, I chose to put a unit on the web.
How long did you work on this element?
I created the lessons for another class, but I put it up on the web for my window into my classroom project.
So, I spent a month developing the lessons, collecting ideas, pictures, documents/resources, and putting it up on the web.

No one
Why did you choose this piece for your portfolio?

Why do you think it is a good piece of work?
Considering all the time it took to make it and how hard I worked to make fun and creative activities, it is obvious why I think it is good!
What does this work show about your abilities as an
educator?
This
shows that I can make units where the kids get to learn in all sorts of ways.
Hopefully this will enable me to reach many kids.

I wrote to a teacher of the semester to get to know her, and this project is the result.
How long did you work on this element?
Several e-mail over the semester and three hours for web site development and paragraph writing.

Mrs. McKay
Why did you choose this piece for your portfolio?
I spent all the time writing Mrs. McKay and creating a report, it would be silly not too.
Why do you think it is a good piece of work?
Because it allows others to get to know about a fellow colleague.

I like searching the Internet for useful sites, and I thought it would help direct other teachers to some good sites.

I think I choose good sites that teachers could really use.

This is a fun activity I found while looking at the Bill Nye labs.

Thirty minutes

Why did you choose this piece for your portfolio?
I loved all the fun things we did at the beginning of the semester; so, I thought I should find more so I could use them with my kids.
Why do you think it is a good piece of work?
This is the weakest link, but I think it is creative and fun.

I am passionate about my feelings concerning teaching, and I wanted to let others in on my thoughts.

Because it shows how much I care.

shows that I am becoming a teacher because I want to teach the future to problem
solve and love discovery.
