View of the Physical Space

Description of the Physical Space

As I walk into my room, I see a bright and cheerful room.  The wall on the outside of my room will have a welcome sign, my name, room number, and classes I teach on it.  Inside, the walls will contain posters and two billboards.  One will be left blank for students work and the other will contain a phrase, picture, and boarder.   I am also looking forward to posting posters about science, math, success, and attitude.  There will also be room on the wall for newspaper articles, interesting or funny e-mail forwards, and things of interest.  After some time in the room, I would also like the students to paint the ceiling tiles with science pictures like the scientific method and elements for example.  Next to the chalkboard you will be able to find the class rules, punishments, rewards, and an assignment list.

If room allows, I would like to have a reading center with beanbag chairs and several dozen books and magazines for the students to be able to read during down time.  You would also find math puzzles and science reference books here.  In another corner, you would see my desk.  Next to my desk there would be a filing cabinet and a stack of paper trays labeled with each period I would be teaching.  The trays are for turning in work.  Behind my desk will be a bookshelf full of math and science activities.  I hope to have a science room, so two of the walls will have science tables on them with cabinets.  Each cabinet will be labeled so all the supplies can be organized.
