Since you're studying technology in the classroom for your doctoral program, how do you use technology in your Science classes for your students?

I use technology a lot in the classroom.  Student’s use technology for research, not only using the Internet, the library has subscribed to research based sites including an encyclopedia, gale, Galileo, journal & constitution archives.  I give most of my quizzes and tests on line using quia.com.  I also place students grades on the web, e-mail parents, present info. to students using Power Point.  I also encourage students to use technology to present info. and print info. They conduct scavenger hunts and      WebQuests.

Have you always taught High School Science? If not, what other grades/subjects and schools have you taught at?

I have always taught high school science from the following topics Biology, Chemistry, Physical Science, Conceptual Physics, & Environmental Science. I have taught at one high school for my entire teaching career, and it is Dunwoody High School.

Why did you decide to become a teacher?

I became a teacher because it fit more with my lifestyle choice to be married and have children. Fortunately it is probably one of the best decisions of my life. I love teaching, science, and the students!

Why did you decide to become a doctor in education?

My motivation for becoming a doctoral student was working with Dr. Hassard on the Global Thinking Project. During the time, I did not have a masters and my principal, and two other colleagues were working on their doctoral degrees using the project as part of their research. I enjoyed the project and the collaboration between the professors, teachers and students, I enrolled in the masters program the following semester.

What are your plans after you graduate?

After graduation, my immediate plans are to remain at Dunwoody until my children are older. (daughter- 16, sons - 13,10,& 9).
