Hi once again!Well today was kind of mixed emotion's!
Jenna's wbc count was up to 600 today, which is great and we are very excited. They checked it to see if it was mostly neutrophil's or lymphosites. It looked like it was mostly neutrophil's.We can't be sure until her count's come up higher.Don't worry this still doesn't make much sense to us either. We are still trying to unscramble it all ourselves.Well neutrophil's are what they want to see, that is a good indication of engraftment, but of course we won't know that for sure until they do a dna test to see whose cell's are growing. Our Dr's seemed encouraged but they are very reserved to get our hopes up.The other thing happening is Jenna has developed a rash all over her body that kinda comes and goes and look's like a sunburn. Her face and the top of her head are really red.Dr.Cowan seem's pretty sure that this is an early sign of Graft Verses Host Disease. This is kind of a catch 22,on one hand this mean's that she may be engrafting, which is of course good.On the other hand we don't want GVHD.So we are pretty worried.
She continues to have high blood pressure problem's.They are controlling this with medication.Other than that she is still very happy today and has a great appetite. She still hasn't had any fever,so that is great.
Our nurse Marika who fight's to get Jenna on all of her shift's is leaving the unit for an entire month to go help in the PICU.We are very sad!She is awesome, she really know's her stuff and we really trust our daughter in her hand's.I overheard her today telling someone they needed to peek in Jenna's window and see the reason she skip's to work everyday! She is so sweet! She went out and bought Jenna this great toy today. We are really going to miss her!Randy really harrasses her ,so now he won't know what to do with himself!
Well we'll let you all know tomorrow how the count's and the rash are going.
Good night, please say an extra prayer for our girl tonite!
Love,
Randy,Kristi & Jenna
