Hi again!No sooner did I write the great news did we get a horrible scare.Yesterday Linda from the BMT unit called and said Jennas counts dropped dramatically.These are the white blood counts we do every week.Her WBC is normally up in the 3000's and her absoloute Neutraphil (ANC) is usually just below that.When her ANC is below 500 that means she is considered neutropenic,and can't fight off the germs very well.When we were in the hospital she wasn't allowed to come out into the hall until her ANC was above 500.Well her ANC was at 700 with the last draw that Linda called me about yesterday.This is not good.I have been in a complete panic,I did not sleep at all last night and could barely function,I was so worried we were going to have to put Jenna through all of this again.
Linda had me do another blood draw this morning because they thought these numbers had to be off,being as we just got the engraftment studies back and they said 99.9%.Well I sent them stat and they just came back that her ANC is 2187!That is so much better!We really don't know what happened and neither do they but thank God!Her ANC is 82% of her WBC which means that 82% of the white blood cells in her body are neutrophils,this is what we want!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!That was a sigh of relief!
Please pray for Jenna,that everything is fine and that she continues to hold onto her graft,we really appreciate the extra prayers!
